Four Important Details to Note in Stainless Steel Casting Process

The handling of process details in stainless steel castings directly affects the quality of stainless steel castings. Although the general work process is similar, stainless steel casting is different.

There are subtle differences between stainless steel casting manufacturers, which are important factors affecting the quality of stainless steel castings. So what details need to be paid attention to?

1. To prevent the occurrence of white spots in stainless steel castings during the casting process, measures must be taken during casting; otherwise, the wall thickness cannot be too thin. For aluminum alloy and magnesium alloy metal mold castings, the casting fillet radius should not be less than 2-5 mm.

2. The pouring slope of stainless steel castings should be slightly greater than that of sand mold castings. Generally, it should be 38-40% larger than that of sand molds.

3. The minimum wall thickness of stainless steel castings should be greater than that of sand mold castings because metal molds dissipate heat quickly.

4. The thickness of the inner wall and inner ribs of stainless steel castings is generally 0.55-0.65 times the thickness of the connected outer wall. In addition, because the inner wall (ribs) cools slowly, cracks are prone to form at the junction between the inner and outer walls during casting shrinkage.

The above are four points to pay attention to for stainless steel castings. Only by mastering the details can defects such as white spots and cracks in precision castings be avoided.
